Stephen Ministry - Main
Encourage one another and build one another up 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Stephen Ministry is a confidential program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and in the community.
Stephen Ministers are committed Christian people who…
- Express God's care through their lives to others
- Receive 50 hours of initial training in important caring ministry skills and concepts
- Are commissioned as Stephen Ministers after completing their initial training
- Visit another person regularly to offer Christian support and care
- Participate in regular support under the guidance of trained Stephen Leaders
- Serve for at least two years
- Receive continuing education and skill building throughout their years of service
Stephen Ministry Training Begins
Our newest Stephen Ministers to be, have begun their training! The 50 hours of training (3 hours held each Tuesday through May) will equip our trainees to offer excellent one-on-one Christian care to persons in need. After training, these new Stephen Ministers will be commissioned in a special June worship service and then will begin their service alongside other Stephen Ministers.
Stephen Ministers offer long-term, consistent care to persons who have experienced grief, illness, divorce, spiritual or family crisis, loss of job, relocation, or other life transitions where the supportive ministry of a committed Christian is needed.
Please remember in prayer our 2008 class of Stephen Minister trainees: Jane Carter, Anne Holladay, Bernie & Mary Rose Lowry, Melly Williams, and Wayne McEachin.
Lynne Hanson to Become a Stephen Leader this Spring
Lynned Hanson will soon be trained to become a Stephen Leader and will join present Stephen Leaders Wayne Nelson, Bob & Nancy Page, and Bruce Fields. Stephen Leaders are trained leaders in our congregation who oversee and direct our Stephen Ministry. Lynne was a member of our first Stephen Ministers' class in 2003 and has a deep desire to provide awareness and teaching leadership in this craing ministry. Please pray for Lynne as she prepares for training.
